Opportunities From: Dreams Come True of Jacksonville

We were very generously given a much larger donation than we are able to use, so we are paying it forward and donating the surplus to Give Kids the World Village -- our close partner in the Orlando area that provides an exclusive experience to our families traveling to the area on their dream trips. Give Kids the World puts on incredible programs and celebrations every single week for the families who visit and we are quite blessed to be able to work so closely with them. 

We are in need of one of the following:

We need someone (or multiple someones) traveling between Jacksonville and Kissimmee/Orlando in the next 7-10 days. There are approximately 30 large boxes (at least 2'x2'x2', on average) that need transport to Give Kids the World. They are ready to accept the donation whenever is most convenient for the delivery driver. Pick-up at the Dreams Come True office is flexible and we can work around your schedule.

Children can volunteer for certain roles alongside their parents. It's an amazingly rewarding opportunity to serve the families staying at the Village for their vacation and bring some hope and joy to kids and their families from all over the world.

Occasionally we have Dreamers who receive a toy or furniture item that needs assembling. This might mean a piece of IKEA furniture, a bike, a Power Wheels, etc. Respond to this opportunity if you are interested in being notified when there is a need for assembly of items.  

Assembly may be on-site at the Dreams Come True office, on-location of a dream, or could potentially be pick-up & assemble at home. It will depend on the specifics of that need. 

Dates and times will vary but will generally be flexible. You should be able to read and follow written directions with no supervision.

Help our Dreamers and their families celebrate No More Chemo and other memorable milestones in their healing journeys by delivering and placing yard signs! Volunteers are needed in all areas of Northeast Florida & Southeast Georgia.

Do you have a reliable vehicle? Are you able to make basket/meal deliveries? Does your brain work like Google Maps (just kidding, you can use GPS)? If so, this is the role for you! While our DCT offices are off Belfort & Southpoint, we serve Dreamers & their families all over the region. We need volunteers who can pick up various items (those might be meals, items from our office, or items from a site or store) and deliver them to a family or to our office for a family to pick up.

We occasionally have random tasks that we need help with on short notice. This might include organizing a closet, washing blankets, folding and sorting a t-shirt order, stuffing bags for an event, etc. These will typically be at the DCT office.

We are in need of some skilled(ish) labor for upcoming small construction-type projects. This may include (but is not limited to) tasks such as:

These tasks require more skilled individuals than assembling IKEA furniture, but formal construction expertise is not required. General instructions will be provided and you should be prepared to work either indoors or outdoors for several hours. Many of these opportunities would make a great parent/teen or Scouting weekend project. Materials will be provided for all projects.

Background checks will be conducted for all opportunities, due to close contact with families at their homes.

Do crisp folds and symmetric edges give you a sense of satisfaction like none-other? Do videos of DIY bows and unique wrapping techniques fill your social media roll? Do friends and family compliment your gift wrapping skills at holidays and events? 

If this is you... please respond to this opportunity! This is a general interest opportunity for those volunteers with skills in gift wrapping. While pinterest-level, perfectionist wrapping skills are certainly not required, we'd love for the gifts we send to our Dreamers & families to look neat, polished, and special.

(If you are regularly grateful for the invention of gift bags and tissue paper because wrapping is not a strength... this might not be the volunteer opportunity for you. We'd love to utilize your skills in a different way!)
